EMERSON PROFESSOR DOUG STRUCK WAS A NEWSPAPER REPORTER AT THE TIME AND WROTE ABOUT THE CHASE. PEOPLE EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO TURN ON THEIR TELEVISION AND WATCH EVENTS IN ACTION, WATCH THEM AS THEY’RE HAPPENING OVER THE NEXT 16 MONTHS, PEOPLE REMAIN GLUED TO THE CASE, AND SIMPSON’S TRIAL WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TO PLAY OUT LIVE ON NATIONAL TV. EVERYBODY, I THINK, WHO WAS ALIVE, WHO WATCHED IT, REMEMBERS NOT ONLY THE WHITE BRONCO, UH, BUT THE FAMOUS LINE, YOU KNOW, IF IT DOESN’T FIT, YOU MUST ACQUIT THE DEFENDANT OR ORENTHAL JAMES SIMPSON NOT GUILTY OF A CRIME OF MURDER AND VIOLATION OF PEOPLE AT THIS BAR IN BOSTON, GASPED WHEN THE NOT GUILTY VERDICT WAS READ. UNBELIEVABLE. OFFICIAL VERDICT. HE SLIPPED THE HOOK FROM THE BEGINNING. I REALLY NEVER THOUGHT THAT THE EVIDENCE WAS REALLY. IT WAS REALLY NEVER ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO REALLY PROVE THAT HE WAS GUILTY. IT WAS, UM, A VERDICT THAT TORE THAT BLACK AND WHITE COMMUNITIES. NOW, A STATE LAWMAKER, RUSSELL HOLMES, WAS WORKING AT A LIQUOR STORE IN EAST BOSTON AT FIRST, HE AGREED WITH THE VERDICT. NOT ANYMORE. I ABSOLUTELY FEEL HE WAS GUILTY. GUILTY NOW, UH, WHEN I SEE, UM, THE EVIDENCE AND THINK ABOUT IT FROM A 55 YEAR OLD VIEW. THE O.J. The Federal Bureau of Investigations has released their files related to OJ Simpson.
