I APRIL 2. 1998 THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER Mr. J.D. Queen, age 83, of 955 Saddle Ridge Road, Ft. Mill, SC, formerly of Charlotte, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, in Presbyterian Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 1998, at the McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel, conducted by Reverend Dan Wallace. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Mr. Queen was born April 1, 1914, in Cleveland County, son of the late Vester Leroy and Ada McMurray Queen. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Boiling Springs, NC, and was a former member and deacon at Wilson Memorial Baptist Church. He was a retired mechanic from Ryder Truck Lines. Surviving are: 2 sons, Kenneth Queen of Columbia, SC, and Walter Queen from Charlotte; 2 daughters, Sandra Williams of Ft.

Mill, SC, and Jackie Holmes of Charlotte; 2 brothers, A.B. Queen of Shelby, NC, and Joe Queen of Matthews, NC; 5 sisters, Alma Wellmon, Ida Wallace, Doris Dyer and Mary Dyer, all of Shelby, NC, Minnie Green of Rutherfordton, NC; 8. grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. Jean Wheeler Pharr, a resident of the Sharon Towers, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 1998 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 East Morehead Street, with Dr. John Rogers, Jr. officiating. Inter- vate.

The Pharr Family will receive friends on Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the home of Mr. Mrs. Henry Pharr 2000 Nolen Park Lane, and on Saturday following the service. Pharr born in Oakland California, and was a longtime Charlotte resident, she was the daughter of the late Reverend William H. Wheeler, former superintendent of the Thompson Orphage, and the late Lula Dowe Wheeler.

A graduate of Charlotte Central High School, and later attended Women's College of the University of North Carolina. Mrs. Pharr was a member of the Junior League of Charlotte, and the Acacia Book Club. A lifelong sports enthusiast having been an accomplished swimmer, and diver, she closely followed the athletic careers of her brother "Keg" at Central High School, and Wake Forest, her son Henry at the Asheville School, and Davidson College, her grandsons Yates, and Henry Ill at Charlotte Country Day School, and her grandson Stephen at Charlotte Country Day School and later at Georgia Tech. When her granddaughter Carolyn participated in the Special Olympics, Mrs.

Pharr was always waiting at the finish line. With three generations of her family having graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, she consistently supported and followed the Tar Heels for over 50 years. Mrs. Pharr is predeceased by her husband Neal Yates Pharr, a Charlotte attorney who died in 1962, brother William H. Wheeler who died in 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Wheeler Pharr Weeks of Charlotte; son, Henry Neal Pharr I Il and his wife Carol of Charlotte; brother, Kenneth B. Wheeler and his wife Jo of Tuxedo, NC; sister, Sarah Alexander and her husband Robert of Sykesville, MD; sister-in-law, Anne Wheeler of Wadesboro, NC; grandchildren, Henry Neal Pharr Ill and wife Marilyn, Charles Yates Pharr, and wife Marisa, Stephen Boys Pharr, and wife Courtney, Carol Elizabeth Fitzhugh and husband Steven; grandchildren, Carolyn Bradford Crosby, Athos Rostan Ill, great granddaughter, Margaret Anne Pharr. Mr. Bryan W. Hill, 11, 35, of Savannah, GA, formerly of Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C. died Saturday, March 28, 1998 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah. He was born November 15, 1962 in Charlotte, N.C., son of B.

Wallace Hill and Patsy Rhodes Hill. Mr. Hill was a 1985 graduate of The University of South Carolina, where he received Bachelow of Science degrees in Marketing and Business Administration and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was Branch Manager of Holox, Savannah, and had been active in the Raleigh Jaycees. He was a member of St.

Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Savannah and a former member of Stough Memorial Baptist Church, Pineville. A of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 3, 1998, at St. Peter Catholic Church by The Reverend Eugene McCreesh, S.J., Celebrant. Interment will be in Sharon Memorial Park.

Prior to moving to Charlotte, Mrs. Savard lived in both Albany, New York and Evansville, Indiana where she was involved in the Salvation Army as an officer. Mrs. Savard's life's work was caring and ministering to others in need, and the Salvation Army was one of the many doors she carried her ministry through. Mrs.

Adams was selected to provide floral services to both the Bush-Quayle and Clinton-Gore Presidential Inaugurations. Mr. Adams particularly enjoyed traveling and took many trips abroad, each time looking forward to the next. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Artisan Club and Park Road Baptist Church and the Lydia Bible Class. She was a beloved wife and mother who is survived by her husband, Belmont "Bud" D.
