Saturday, June 8 was Day 12 of the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Horseshoe and Pairs Las Vegas and saw two more bracelet events wrapped up.

Brek Schutten, an ICU nurse, won Event #21: $25,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold'em (6-Handed) for $1,405,641 after putting in an impressive performance against some of the top professionals in the game. Meanwhile, over in Event #22: $1,500 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw, Aaron "AJ" Cummings from Montana was also finding a win, in his case for $146,516.

Both Shutten and Cummings were first-time bracelet winners.

Elsewhere at the series, four other events were in play (including one new event) and the WSOP provided some clarity on on the recent controversy over how the late registration rules are being enforced.

Darius Samual Still Chasing His Second Bracelet In The $1.5k Shootout

2024 WSOP Day 12: Greenstein Bags In Gladiator, Hellmuth In $3k LHE (4)

Darius Samual won his Day 2 shootout table in Event #23: $1,500 Shootout No Limit Hold'em. Samual has already made a name for himself this series after revealing that he spent half of his entire bankroll to his entry into the $25,000 Heads Up Championship. He took that event down.

Now, with a much smaller percentage of his roll on the line, Samual's looking to win his second bracelet. To do so he will have to beat the rest of the 16 Day 2 survivors including Vitor Dzivielevski, Jeremy Ausmus, Scott Ball, and Daniel Strelitz.

For most of the field, Day 2 of the event was a disappointment. Ninety percent of the remaining 160-player field was eliminated as the Day 1 survivors played another full-ring table down to a winner.

Everyone who was knocked out today received the same min-cash of $6,243. However, the survivors will return on Day 3 to a guaranteed cash of at least $15,027 and gradated prizes up to $305,849 for first.

Among the casualties of Day 2 were bracelet holders like Erick Lindgren, Boris Kolev, Ronnie Day, Safiya Umerova, Julien Sitbon, Espen Jorstad, David "the Dragon" Pham, and Dong Chen.

Day 3 will begin at 12 p.m. on June 9.

Omaha-8 Championship Plays Down To Thirteen

2024 WSOP Day 12: Greenstein Bags In Gladiator, Hellmuth In $3k LHE (5)

Some big names are still holding on in Event #24: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship. Thirteen players remain in the event including Sean Troha (325,000), Day 1 chip leader Sean Winter (495,000), Brad Ruben (565,000), and Yuri Dzivielevski (1,275,000).

However, at the top of the pack is Robert Tanita who now leads by a wide margin after the Day 2 action saw him grow his stack to 2,990,000. He is well ahead of Joao Simao (1,840,000) who had the second biggest stack at the close of today's action.

Late registration allowed 35 more players to enter the event on Day 2, bringing the total field up to 259 entries and the total prize pool up to $2,408,700. First place is now set at $536,713.

The game re-ups at 1 p.m. local time on June 9 and will go until there are five players left.

Hellmuth Among Three Main Event Champs Still In $3k LHE Event

2024 WSOP Day 12: Greenstein Bags In Gladiator, Hellmuth In $3k LHE (6)

There are only 76 players left in Event #23: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed at the end of Day 1 and three of them are Main Event Champions. Phil Hellmuth (168,000), Joe McKeehen (121,000), and Koray Aldemir (154,000) are all running near the middle of the pack going into Day 2.

A total of 248 players entered the event, generating a prize pool of $662,160. Brian Tate leads the survivors with 327,000 in chips, but with two more days of play, the top prize of $148,635 could go to anyone.

He is up against players like Robert Mizrachi (128,000), David ‘ODB’ Baker (193,000), Eric Wasserson (60,000), Matt Glantz (125,000), and Josh Arieh (67,000) in his pursuit of the gold.

The event restarts at 1 p.m. local time on June 9 in the Horseshoe Event Center.
